Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs skilled work in operating and maintaining stationary engines, turbines, high-pressure boilers and associated equipment and machinery. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs any combination of, but not limited to the following duties according to specific departmental guidelines: – Operates steam engine and associated compressors, pumps, motors, and valves. – Operates diesel and electric air compressors. – Supervises and operates high pressure steam boilers. – Inspects equipment and monitors gauges, charts, and meters. – Adjusts valves, fans, engine speeds, fuel supply, pump pressures, and steam pressures as required to maintain proper operating levels. – Lubricates equipment and checks bearing temperatures, fluid levels, and operating pressures. – Assists with the ordering of required parts, supplies, and equipment as needed. – Keeps operating log of equipment in service and records temperatures, pressures, and reservoir elevations and other operating data. – Performs general clean-up of equipment and work area. Maintains a neat and orderly work environment. – Observe safe work practices. – Assists with the training of new Wastewater Plant Operator C2 as needed. – Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
