Salary Range: $35.00-$45.00/hour Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Employment Type: Full Time Description: The PSM Coordinator is a working coordinator that provides leadership and technical knowledge to ensure the safe and effective operation of the production/cold storage facility. Serves as the technical expert in the maintenance work activities related to refrigeration, and facility utility areas. Leads and coordinates the facility refrigeration team in the PSM related work and compliance. Key responsibilities include the maintenance, repair and safe operation of the production facility’s mechanical infrastructure, including ammonia-based refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, and boilers. The PSM Coordinator will provide leadership to the Maintenance Technicians assigned to their work shift. By ensuring effective communication in a 24/7 work environment, development of people, planning and execution of work plans, and utilization of available resources, the leader directly supports the Bama system as it serves its internal and external customers in a cost-effective and timely manner. Additional responsibilities include the repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of the facility manufacturing systems. Keys to success will be the individual’s knowledge of manufacturing systems, the skills needed to maintain, repair and troubleshoot those systems, effective leadership skills and the ability to support the development of Maintenance Technicians into even more effective resources to the company. Completed work should meet all human and food safety requirements. Taking refrigeration logs to ensure equipment is within specifications. Troubleshooting and helping create resolutions for equipment not within specification. Reviewing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) Participate in ammonia incident/accident investigations Work performed is in compliance with PSM, OSHA, EPA, IIAR requirements Oversee all aspects of facility ammonia refrigeration operations Ensure that the work performed by all Refrigeration Technician team members meets Bama’s safety requirements Coordinate the facility PSM program to ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1910.119 Maintain facility PSM records in a neat and orderly manner. All records will be maintained in an audit ready fashion. Provide leadership and coaching as a technical resource to facility Refrigeration Technician team members Understands Predictive Maintenance concepts and can interpret PdM findings to ensure appropriate repair are planned and executed Available for occasional travel to support technical development or other company needs Actively participate as a leader on the facility Emergency Response Team to a level that meets the requirements of a HazMat Technician, which includes successful completion of the Hazmat Physical Safely perform several tasks at once as it relates to this position Perform safety sensitive functions and identify, correct and improve potential safety items; both human and food Report safety violations, hazards or near misses that you see or become aware of Understand quality standards, follow those standards and know what to do and who to contact when some process is not functioning correctly Maintain a clean, organized and sanitized work area/equipment/tools in a manner that meets food safety requirements of internal/external customers and regulatory agencies Understand and comply with Bama’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including head covering, facial hair requirements, gloves, shoes, etc. Understand and utilize measurement systems and tools specific to this position Participate in all team activities and training (e.g., continuous improvement projects, plant safety initiatives, crossovers, stretching, etc.) Understand manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement Ensure all paperwork is filled in legibly and correctly for area of responsibility Deal politely and work cooperatively with team members and others in the facility, by listening to and respecting each other Work overtime as needed Complete all required assessments and testing specific to this position Comply with all Bama policies and procedures Ability to work in confined spaces or on elevated working surfaces Able to work in environments with exposure to potential allergens, including flour, cinnamon, etc. Perform work related to depth perception and color recognition Accountable for supporting change initiatives and leading change efforts throughout the maintenance organization. Execute tactical plans at shift level including execution of planned shut-down work plans. Implement work plans for maintenance needs of the current production cycle & coordinate appropriately with Operations and QA supervisors. Identify additional needs for input into, or adjustment to, current and future work plans. Assign work to maximize the utilization of available technician resources through knowing both the capabilities of Techs assigned to the shift and the work required. Participation in the interview / selection process. Ensure participation of Technicians on their shift in the interview / selection process. Track vacation and attendance for the shift. Develop Technicians through assessing performance and skill sets of Technicians and providing hands-on training, feedback and coaching Mentor / coach Technicians in development of EQ skills Holds Technicians accountable for adhering to policies and procedures and is responsible for elevating issues when appropriate Oversee and direct the work of contractors across the facility on their assigned shift to ensure that Bama’s resources are used appropriately and that safe work practices and GMPs are maintained The physical requirements listed below for this position are considered essential functions of the job; Required Experience: High School diploma or GED Valid food handler’s card from Tulsa Health Department Valid First Class Stationary Engineer license or obtain license within 6 months of being eligible to test Technical experience and/or education in Process Safety Management Technical degree or equivalent experience/training as it relates to this position Previous experience leading a team as a Supervisor or Lead Excellent troubleshooting skills Proven safety record in past work history Must be proficient in the following areas: Automated equipment setup, teardown and repair PLC troubleshooting Maintenance and repair of motor controls, general industrial wiring and hardware, and electrical troubleshooting Maintenance and repair of AC inverters, DC controllers and serves Ammonia refrigeration system safe operation, maintenance, repair, HVAC system maintenance and repair, and meeting PSM requirements, Maintenance and repair of plant support systems including boilers, air compressors, high pressure hot water, plumbing and equipment movers Maintenance and repair of mechanical systems including pneumatics, bearings, seals, gears, chains, sprockets, pipe fitting, and appropriate lubrication of mechanical systems Basic Mig and Tig welding for repair purposes The use of shop machinery including mills, lathes, drill presses and normal industrial tools for repair purposes Math and reading comprehension to understand and interpret technical manuals, bulletins, blueprints and schematics Preferred Experience: 5 years maintenance experience in manufacturing, preferably in the food industry Certification through Refrigeration Engineers and Technicians (RETA) or Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) Experience in leading a facility PSM program Refrigeration recovery license It is the policy of Bama not to discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information, disability or because he or she is a protected veteran.
