Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned): • Must possess the ability to operate the entire refrigeration system, to maintain temperatures to keep the plant at operating temperatures and in accordance with HACCP, and USDA compliance. • Must possess the ability to complete daily computer tasks required to keep PM and work orders up to date, individuals will be held accountable for accuracy and clarity of work completed documentation, parts, causes, comments, etc. • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical control systems, conveyor systems, and production machines. • Be punctual and adhere to all safety policies, general manufacturing policies, and food safety guidelines. Must be able to complete assigned tasks in a safe and timely fashion, must be motivated to increase knowledge and to gain experience in all aspects of the Maintenance field. Team member will also perform such other duties as assigned by Management. • Complete all trouble response calls through documentation of rounds sheets, log books, work orders and downtime log • Perform preventative maintenance procedures on all assigned equipment • Communicate with the Engineering Parts Coordinator to insure adequate parts inventories • Provide descriptions, part numbers, quantities, and time lines when needed • Promote a safe and clean working environment by following clean as you go procedures • Attend and participate in all safety, staff, etc. meetings and activities • Create a sense of urgency in the training and development of all new engineers and foster an atmosphere of knowledge sharing • Ensure that all safety procedures and guidelines are properly adhered to • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, variable speed AC drives, power supplies, gearboxes, and pumps • Inform appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved • Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as stated above. • Two or more years’ experience working in ammonia refrigeration, and/or minimum of four years of industrial HVAC/R experience • Universal EPA certification OR ability to obtain within 90 days. • Must be able to wear a respirator and pass a fit test • Preference given to those with RETA 1 & 2 certification, have attended HVAC tech school and/or experience with anhydrous ammonia refrigeration. • 2+ years of ammonia refrigeration experience to include compressors, ammonia pumps, condensing towers and full understanding of refrigeration cycle. • 3-5 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas. • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment • Good mechanical aptitude • Tig and stick welding skills a plus • Thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes read and understand electrical schematics. • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting. • Computer experience/operation and an understanding of PLC operation are necessary. • Must be able to handle multiple projects/repairs simultaneously • Must have knowledge of machining and assembly practices, tools and fixtures • Must have complete knowledge of shop operations • This position requires an organized individual, who is self-motivated and can work independently.
